Almost 70% of Irish employees are expecting an end-of-year bonus, new research shows.
The study carried out by Workhuman shows that around half of employees are also expecting gifts from colleagues and managers.
37% of workers surveyed said they believe that bonuses and gifts are tied directly to their performance at work.
“The festive season offers organisations a unique opportunity to celebrate employee contributions and cultivate a culture of appreciation.” said Niamh Graham, Senior Vice President of Global Human Experience at Workhuman.
“When done right, recognition at the workplace goes beyond holiday gifts or bonuses, creating lasting connections and positive effects on employee engagement, morale, and an environment where employees feel valued year-round,” she added.
The research suggests that many people struggle with the financial side of Christmas, with almost 60% citing the cost of holiday expenses as a primary source of end-of-year stress.
Meanwhile, just under 20% said professional demands of meeting end of year goals and navigating performance reviews added to the strain.
Over a quarter of workers surveyed said they struggle to fully disconnect over the Christmas break, with 32% expecting to respond to work emails.
