Up to 10,000 business people, and those hoping to establish a business, are expected to take part in more than 300 events over the coming days to mark Local Enterprise Week.
The events are being organised by the network of Local Enterprise Offices around the country, which provide advice, information and support to individuals setting up or growing a business.
This year’s schedule of events comes as firms of all sizes struggle with soaring energy costs, supply chain issues and access to finance, all of which pose a challenge to scaling and growing firms.
The events will focus on a number of areas including preparing for export, digitalisation and becoming more sustainable as a business.
There are 31 Local Enterprise Offices (LEOs) around Ireland, offering a wide range of experience, skills and services to fledgling firms as well as those just starting out with a business idea.
The offices aim to drive the development of local enterprise and support job creation among micro and small businesses.
Last year, in excess of 11,000 businesses availed of Local Enterprise Office mentoring support while over 42,000 received LEO training and capacity development supports.
“In Ireland there is a huge appetite for a career in business, and Local Enterprise Week will help educate and showcase how this can become a reality for many, alongside all of the different supports available through the Local Enterprise Office,” John Magee, Chair of the network of Local Enterprise Offices said.
“I encourage all businesses or anyone with a great idea to take advantage of the events taking place. This is a week to learn more, see how to get started and how to make it happen,” he added.
